Results of General Practice Annual Questionnaire

Please download our Patient Survey Results for 2008/2009 to find out how our patients rated our practice.

A poster depicting the key findings of the 2008/09 survey  is also displayed in our waiting area.

The patient survey was carried out in late 2008 and the results were collated and produced by an accrediated external organisation.

Questionnaires were completed for all of the 7 partners at the practice.

  • Number of surveys completed - 441
  • Practice list size - 14743
  • Number of surveys completed as a % of list size - 2.99%

Phoning through to the Practice & Phoning through to the Doctor for advice.  These 2 questions scored the highest number of points above the survey mean scores.

  • Phoning through to the doctor for advice - 11 points above the GPAQ mean score.
  • Phoning through to the practice - 9 points above the GPAQ mean score.

Scores greater than 10 points above the national benchmark for that area can be interpreted as a "high quality indicator".

These results indicate that the practice provides a high quality telephone and advice service - our "triage service". However, excellent results for doctors providing this telephone & advice service has a knock on effect on the scores for " continuity of care" and the "availability of particular doctors for routine appointments".   The survey has therefore helped us to identify these two areas for improvement over the next year.

  • Receptionists - The scores from survey participants in relation to our reception team has produced results which are 2 points above the national mean, and an improvement of 4 points on the previous years survey.  This was also the highest score in the Non-Clinical area of the survey.
  • Clinical Areas - Patients identified "doctors caring and concern" as the highest section in the clinical area with a score of 90% which is 6 points above the GPAQ mean.
  • Non-Clinical Area - Opening Hours The second highest score was for opening hours which scored 73%, 6 points above the GPAQ mean.
    •  52.9% of patients surveyed responded "none" when asked what additional hours they would like the practice to be open.
    • 25.9% of respondents would like the practice to be open at weekends.

The results of this quesiton support the fact that patients are generally happy with the practices opening hours.   See our current opening times.
